Real-time or Batch? High Volume/High Transaction?

Here are five things you need to consider when choosing an integration partner and/or integration software. In the last post we talked about the kind of integration you want (and expect).

In this post we cover item 2 and 3 on the list:

  1. What are your integration needs?
  2. Real-time or batch?
  3. Transaction volume
  4. Cost
  5. Strategy

Are you looking for real-time or batch-based solutions?

Most integration companies offer batch-based processes (not real-time integration) because they have a much easier time supporting them. If you need a real-time solution, make sure you choose a provider that supports that as their core expertise, and does not charge additional for it.

Are you high volume/high transaction?

If you are, then you might want to think about hosting the integration software on a computer local to your own network, rather than in the cloud.  Cloud connections charge for data, so a high amount of data means high ongoing costs.  Make sure you have a choice of where to host your integration based on your data needs.

Look for more posts where we discuss the cost of integration.
